ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT EDUCATE AGAINST MENACE OF POLIO IN CHILDREN.

Polio is a disease which can be gotten through infected food and water that can either lead to loss of ability to move or in some cases death, from difficulty in breathing, hence the reason for the ongoing nationwide campaign, in other to vaccinate every child between 0-5 years, because they are the most vulnerable group of people. 

The Executive Secretary, Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Ifeyinwa Aniochukwu yesterday in an exclusive interview with Urban Radio Correspondent Ifeyinwa Ogbue at ST. Mulumba Catholic Church Enugu State said the campaign is on to prevent further menace of polio in Nigeria.

Aniochukwu, who thanked the government of Enugu State under the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for the innovation, appealed to the general populace to become ambassadors to get their children immunized, urging them to shun the misconception and myth following the vaccine, as it is safe and effective.

The Executive Secretary in her reaction to other infectious diseases, assured of their rapid response as soon as there is any form of outbreak.

Ogbue reported that the ongoing campaign also has the support of Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, who is the Chairperson of the Taskforce on Immunization in Enugu State, and other partners, including UNICEF, World Health Organization WHO, and the direct governing body, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
