A development scientist Chigozie Anarado, says the completion of the second Niger Bridge connecting Asaba from the west to Onitsha from the east, would be of immense benefit to the development of trade and commerce in the Southeast.

Anarado, who spoke as a guest yesterday on the Urban Radio political program The Parliament, noted that the new bridge would ease the traffic density on the first Niger bridge as well as ensure swift transportation of goods and people down south.

Responding to the contention about the budget for the construction of the bridge, the expert noted that an overpriced budget is a Nigerian reality, and Nigerians ought to have come to terms with the fact.

Igwe Austin from Enugu, who called in to contribute to the program, said that the political undertone of the Niger bridge construction, is not the priority of Nigerians, but the completion of the bridge is their sole interest.
