Gunmen kill five soldiers on patrol in anambra

Gunmen have killed at least five soldiers in the Umunze community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State in an incident which occurred yesterday at about 12:30 p.m. beside a branch of the Zenith Bank close to the popular Nkwo Umunze market in the area.

The gunmen were said to have opened fire on the soldiers who were in an army-marked Sienna patrol vehicle, killing five of them in the attack.

Video clips of the slain soldiers have gone viral on social media, but the military is yet to respond to the attack as of press time.

The Governor of Anambra State Chukwuma Soludo who confirmed the killing of the soldiers described the act as wicked and cruel lamenting that the perpetrators of the act must pay.

Soludo in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said they are not going to rest on their oars, including those people that attacked Ifeanyi Ubah and there would be no hiding place for them.

He urged the Anambra people to remain calm and law-abiding as the security agencies are on top of the situation.
