OBASANJO URGES PRESIDENT TINUBU TO INCLUDE STUDENTS OF PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN LOAN SCHEME

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has urged President Bola Tinubu to include students of private universities among beneficiaries of the Student Loan Scheme.

Obasanjo, who spoke at an event held in Ota, Ogun State, opined that the loan scheme was crucial to the development of the society and the welfare of the citizens and that excluding a group of people would be counterproductive.

He however raised doubt over the running of the scheme without recording corrupt practices.

This is coming at a time the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said students in private institutions would not benefit from the loan scheme.
