The Rivers State House of Assembly has officially withdrawn the impeachment notice against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

This was announced during a session on the house floor, where lawmakers said the move was a mark of respect for President Bola Tinubu.

The decision to withdraw the impeachment notice comes in the wake of a sitting held this morning, involving 26 lawmakers loyal to the immediate past Governor of the state and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike at the House of Assembly Complex.

The political landscape in Rivers State had been marred by tension, primarily attributed to a power struggle between Governor Fubara and Wike, which led president Tinubu to hold meetings with both leaders on Monday where a peace deal was brokered.
